Training and education

Exercise during a course in Tbilissi on strategic interpretive planning for participants from ministries in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan

In Europe no common standards for the profession exist yet. However, there exist opportunities ranging from courses for volunteering interpretive guides to postgraduate programmes teaching interpretation on academic level.

Interpret Europe cannot, however, endorse the vocational training courses and university programmes listed on this website.

Vocational training and life-long learning

In Europe, professional training and accreditation schemes do not yet exist. However, there are several opportunities for taking part in training courses in heritage interpretation, many of them in the UK.

Look for concrete training events organised or led by our members in the What's on section.

University programmes teaching heritage interpretation

Here you will find university degree programmes that offer courses in heritage interpretation on a regular basis.

We list only those programmes that are the responsibility of our members. You will be able to find more through internet research. However, those who are interested in international exchange on furthering the quality of European heritage interpretation are much more likely to include their programmes here.
