European projects on heritage interpretation

The Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) of the European Union was designed to develop education and training across Europe. It consisted of four sub-programmes:

  • Comenius for schools
  • Erasmus for higher education
  • Leonardo da Vinci for vocational training
  • Grundtvig for adult education.

Four LLP projects were dedicated to the development of heritage interpretation:

2014-2016
InHerit: Heritage Interpretation for Adult Learning
(within the LLP sub-programme Grundtvig)

2013-2015
HISA: Heritage Interpretation for Senior Audiences
(within the LLP sub-programme Grundtvig)

2013-2015
IOEH: Interpreting Our European Heritage
(within the LLP sub-programme Leonardo da Vinci)

2013-2015
HeriQ: Quality in Heritage Interpretation
(within the LLP sub-programme Leonardo da Vinci)

Within these projects, many project partners, associated partners and advisers helped to improve the quality of heritage interpretation in Europe.

"I can't understand why people are frightened of new ideas. I'm frightened of the old ones."
